Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (950 ml) tomato juice, low-sodium
  • 1ยฝ cups (350 ml) vodka, smooth neutral like Titoโ€™s or Absolut
  • ยผ cup (60 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp hot sauce (e.g., Frankโ€™s RedHot), adjust to taste
  • 1 tbsp prepared horseradish (optional)
  • 1 tsp celery salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • ยฝ tsp smoked paprika
  • 810 thick-cut crispy bacon strips
  • Pickle spears or slices (classic dill or spicy)
  • Celery stalks
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Olives (green or black, pitted)
  • Cooked shrimp (optional)
  • Lemon wedges
  • Green beans or asparagus spears, lightly blanched
  • Pickled jalapeรฑos (optional)
  • Fresh herbs like parsley or dill (optional)
  • Coarse salt and cracked black pepper for rimming glasses

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Lay out thick-cut bacon strips without overlapping. Cook about 4-5 minutes per side, flipping once, until crispy but still slightly flexible. Drain on paper towels and set aside (about 10-12 minutes).
  2. Prepare garnishes: Wash and cut garnishes. Slice pickles into spears or rounds, halve cherry tomatoes, cut celery stalks into pieces, and arrange olives in small bowls. If using green beans or asparagus, blanch briefly and shock in ice water.
  3. Mix the Bloody Mary base: In a large pitcher, combine tomato juice, vodka, fresh lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and horseradish. Stir well. Season with celery salt, smoked paprika, and black pepper to taste. Chill for at least 15 minutes or serve over ice immediately.
  4. Rim the glasses (optional): Spread celery salt or salt-pepper mix on a shallow plate. Rub lemon wedge around the rim of each glass and dip into the seasoning to coat evenly.
  5. Set up the bar: Arrange the Bloody Mary mix pitcher, glasses, and bowls of garnishes on your serving area. Include tongs or picks for easy grabbing. Provide napkins.
  6. Build your drink: Pour Bloody Mary mix over ice in a prepared glass. Encourage guests to personalize with garnishes such as crispy bacon, pickles, celery stalk, and lemon wedge. Adjust hot sauce or Worcestershire sauce to taste.
