A quick and easy festive layered shooter that mimics the iconic candy corn colors and flavors with a grown-up twist. Perfect for Halloween parties and seasonal celebrations.

  • 1 oz (30 ml) triple sec or orange liqueur
  • 1 oz (30 ml) orange juice (freshly squeezed preferred)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) butterscotch schnapps
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) vanilla vodka (optional)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Irish cream liqueur
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) heavy cream or half-and-half (optional)
  • Mini candy corn pieces (optional, for decoration)
  • Orange zest or a small slice of orange peel (optional)

Instructions

  1. Chill your shot glasses in the fridge or freezer for about 10 minutes to help keep the layers from mixing.
  2. Prepare the orange layer by combining 1 oz triple sec and 1 oz fresh orange juice in a small mixing cup. Stir gently and pour into the bottom of each chilled shot glass, filling about one-third full.
  3. Slowly pour 1 oz butterscotch schnapps mixed with 0.5 oz vanilla vodka over the back of a spoon held just above the orange layer to create the yellow layer. Fill the glass until it reaches the two-thirds mark.
  4. Gently combine 1 oz Irish cream with 0.5 oz heavy cream (optional). Using the spoon method, carefully layer this on top until the glass is full.
  5. Check that the three layers sit distinctly with orange on bottom, yellow in the middle, and white on top. Pour more slowly if layers mix.
  6. Add garnish if desired by sprinkling mini candy corn pieces or adding a twist of orange zest on top.
  7. Serve immediately to enjoy the fresh flavors and visual layers.

Notes

Pour slowly over the back of a spoon to keep layers distinct. Chill ingredients and glasses beforehand. For dairy-free, substitute Irish cream and heavy cream with coconut cream-based alternatives. Non-alcoholic version can be made with orange soda, butterscotch syrup, and vanilla cream soda.
