A festive and easy-to-make patriotic party drink featuring layered red, white, and blue jello shots with a perfect balance of flavor and texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Red Layer: 1 cup cherry-flavored gelatin (Jell-O brand works great)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup vodka (or lemon-lime soda for non-alcoholic)
  • White Layer: 1 cup unflavored gelatin powder (Knox brand recommended)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk (full fat for creaminess)
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup vodka (or milk for non-alcoholic version)
  • Blue Layer: 1 cup blue raspberry-flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup vodka (or lemon-lime soda for non-alcoholic)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: In a mixing bowl, pour 1 cup boiling water over the cherry-flavored gelatin. Stir for about 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Add 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup vodka, stirring gently. Pour this mixture evenly into your shot glasses or molds, filling them about one-third full. Place them in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or until the layer is firm but slightly tacky.
  2. Make the White Layer: While the red layer chills, dissolve 1 cup unflavored gelatin in 1 cup boiling water, stirring well. Add 1/2 cup coconut milk and 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk. Mix until smooth. Stir in 1/2 cup vodka. Pour this creamy mixture gently over the red layer to avoid mixing colors. Refrigerate again for 30 minutes or until firm but still tacky to the touch.
  3. Prepare the Blue Layer: Repeat the flavored gelatin process with blue raspberry gelatin: dissolve 1 cup in 1 cup boiling water, stir until dissolved, then add 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup vodka. Pour gently over the white layer, filling the glasses or molds to the top. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours until fully set.
  4. Serving: Once fully set, run a small knife around the edges if using molds to loosen before serving. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

Do not rush chilling between layers to prevent colors from bleeding. Use room temperature vodka to avoid uneven setting. Stir gelatin until fully dissolved before adding cold liquids or alcohol. Use a small ladle or spoon to pour layers gently. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Avoid freezing.
