Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 oz tomato juice (preferably low-sodium)
  • 2 oz vodka (clean, smooth brand like Titoโ€™s)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ยฝ tsp hot sauce (like Tabasco), adjust to taste
  • 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tsp horseradish (optional but recommended)
  • Pinch of freshly cracked black pepper
  • ยผ tsp celery salt
  • 2 to 3 maple-glazed bacon strips, cooked crispy
  • 1 pickle spear (dill or bread and butter)
  • A handful of cherry tomatoes, halved or whole
  • 3 to 4 olives (green or black, pitted)
  • 1 celery stalk
  • 1 tsp pure maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400ยฐF (200ยฐC). Lay thick-cut bacon strips on a foil-lined baking sheet. Brush each strip lightly with real maple syrup using a pastry brush.
  2. Bake bacon for 15-20 minutes until crispy and caramelized, watching closely after 15 minutes to avoid burning. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  3. In a cocktail shaker or jar, combine tomato juice, vodka, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, lemon juice, horseradish, celery salt, and black pepper. Add ice cubes to fill halfway.
  4. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10 seconds or stir well if you prefer less dilution.
  5. Rim your glass with celery salt if desired. Fill the glass with ice cubes.
  6. Pour the Bloody Mary mixture over the ice. Drizzle 1 tsp of pure maple syrup on top.
  7. Garnish with 2 to 3 strips of maple-glazed bacon (one inside the glass), a celery stalk, a pickle spear, cherry tomatoes, and olives skewered on a cocktail pick.
  8. Give the drink a gentle stir before sipping to blend flavors.

Notes

Use thick-cut bacon for best texture. For vegetarian option, substitute bacon with smoked tempeh or mushroom bacon. Use low-sodium tomato juice to control saltiness. Adjust hot sauce and horseradish to taste. Reheat bacon briefly in a hot skillet if it loses crispiness. Fresh lemon juice is recommended over bottled. Rim glass with celery salt or smoked sea salt for extra flavor. Prepare base up to 24 hours ahead and assemble just before serving.
