Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry red wine (e.g., Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot)
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (e.g., Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio)
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 medium peach or nectarine, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Juice of 1 large lemon (about 3 tablespoons)
  • 1 medium orange, sliced into thin rounds
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) triple sec or orange liqueur
  • 1 to 2 cups (240480 ml) club soda or sparkling water, chilled
  • Ice cubes, as needed for serving
  • Fresh mint sprigs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse strawberries and blueberries well. Hull and slice strawberries thinly. Thinly slice peach and orange. Set aside.
  2. Pour half of the red wine (about 12.7 fl oz) into a large pitcher. Add sliced strawberries and half the blueberries. Gently stir to combine. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Carefully pour half of the white wine (about 12.7 fl oz) over the fruit and red wine layer. Add peach slices. Do not stir vigorously to keep layers distinct. Refrigerate for another 30 minutes.
  4. Add fresh lemon juice, orange slices, and triple sec. Stir gently to distribute citrus flavors without blending layers too much.
  5. Slowly add the remaining red and white wine alternately, followed by the remaining blueberries to create the red-white-blue layering effect.
  6. Refrigerate the sangria for at least 2 hours or overnight for best flavor.
  7. Just before serving, add 1 to 2 cups of chilled club soda or sparkling water for fizz. Stir gently once.
  8. Serve sangria over ice cubes in clear glasses, garnished with fresh mint sprigs if desired.

Notes

[‘Layering is key for visual impact and taste; pour slowly and chill between layers to keep colors distinct.’, ‘Do not stir vigorously to avoid mixing layers and bruising fruit.’, ‘Use fresh lemon juice to brighten the sangria and balance sweetness.’, ‘Serve over ice in glasses rather than adding ice directly to the pitcher to avoid dilution.’, ‘For non-alcoholic version, substitute wines with sparkling grape juice and omit triple sec.’, ‘Frozen berries can be used if thawed and drained to avoid excess liquid.’, ‘Prepare up to 24 hours in advance; add sparkling water just before serving to keep fizz.’, ‘Consume within 2 days for best fruit texture and flavor.’]
