A vibrant and refreshing Aperol spritz enhanced with a zesty blood orange slice, perfect for summer sipping with a balanced bitter-sweet flavor and bubbly prosecco.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 oz (90 ml) Aperol
  • 4 oz (120 ml) Prosecco (brut or extra dry)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Soda Water
  • 1 thick slice Blood Orange (or regular orange/grapefruit slice as substitute)
  • Ice Cubes (preferably large, clear cubes)
  • Optional: sprig of fresh rosemary or twist of orange peel for garnish
  • Optional: tonic water instead of soda water for more bitterness

Instructions

  1. Fill the glass about three-quarters full with ice cubes (3-4 large cubes or 6-8 smaller ones).
  2. Pour 3 oz (90 ml) of Aperol over the ice.
  3. Gently pour 4 oz (120 ml) of prosecco over the Aperol slowly to avoid foam.
  4. Add a splash (1 oz / 30 ml) of soda water for sparkle.
  5. Gently stir with a spoon or stirrer to combine ingredients without losing bubbles.
  6. Place a thick slice of blood orange on the rim or float it in the glass.
  7. Optional: gently squeeze the blood orange slice before adding for more citrus flavor.

Notes

Keep all ingredients and glassware chilled to preserve fizz. Use brut or extra dry prosecco for best balance. Avoid vigorous stirring to keep bubbles. Freshly slice blood oranges for best flavor and aroma. Optionally substitute tonic water for soda water for more bitterness. Prepare blood orange slices ahead for parties.
