A quick and easy summer drink combining equal parts chilled black iced tea and lemonade, served over ice with optional fresh lemon and mint garnish. Perfectly balanced, refreshing, and ideal for hot days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) black iced tea, chilled (recommend Luzianne for strong flavor)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) lemonade, chilled (homemade or store-bought)
  • Ice cubes, enough to fill your glass (preferably large cubes)
  • Fresh lemon slices, for garnish
  • Optional: Fresh mint leaves, a few sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. If making iced tea from scratch, steep 2-3 black tea bags in 2 cups (480 ml) boiling water for 5 minutes. Remove tea bags and let cool completely, then chill in the fridge.
  2. Prepare lemonade by chilling your favorite lemonade or making homemade lemonade with fresh lemon juice, water, and sugar or honey to taste.
  3. Fill a tall glass halfway with ice cubes (large cubes preferred).
  4. Pour 1 cup (240 ml) of chilled iced tea over the ice.
  5. Gently pour 1 cup (240 ml) of chilled lemonade over the tea to maintain layering if desired.
  6. Stir gently with a long spoon to blend the tea and lemonade smoothly.
  7. Garnish with a fresh lemon slice and a sprig of mint if desired.
  8. Serve immediately for best refreshment.

Notes

Chill brewed tea completely before mixing to avoid warm drink. Use large ice cubes to slow dilution. Adjust sweetness by varying tea to lemonade ratio. For caffeine-free version, substitute black tea with rooibos or herbal iced tea. Add a splash of sparkling water for fizz. Store tea and lemonade separately if preparing ahead.
