A bright and tangy cocktail featuring fresh blood orange juice, tequila blanco, and grapefruit soda, perfect for summer gatherings and easy to make in under 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz (60 ml) tequila blanco (100% agave)
  • 3 oz (90 ml) fresh blood orange juice
  • ยพ oz (22 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz (60 ml) grapefruit soda
  • ยฝ oz (15 ml) agave syrup or simple syrup (optional)
  • Coarse sea salt for rimming the glass
  • Ice cubes (large preferred)

Instructions

  1. Rub a wedge of lime around the rim of your glass to moisten it, then dip the rim gently into coarse sea salt spread on a small plate. Set aside.
  2. Juice 2-3 blood oranges to get about 3 oz (90 ml) of juice, then squeeze fresh lime juice to get ยพ oz (22 ml).
  3. In a shaker or mixing glass, combine 2 oz (60 ml) tequila blanco, blood orange juice, lime juice, and ยฝ oz (15 ml) agave syrup if using. Fill with ice and stir gently to chill and combine.
  4. Fill the salt-rimmed glass with large ice cubes. Pour the mixed cocktail over the ice, then top with 2 oz (60 ml) grapefruit soda. Stir gently to mix without losing fizz.
  5. Garnish with a thin slice of blood orange or a lime wheel on the rim and serve immediately.

Notes

Use large ice cubes to keep the drink chilled longer without diluting it quickly. Avoid shaking the grapefruit soda with other ingredients to preserve bubbles. Freshly squeezed juices are essential for best flavor. Adjust sweetness with agave syrup to taste. If blood oranges are out of season, substitute with fresh ruby red grapefruit juice.
