A quick and easy homemade cherry limeade slushie that is perfect for hot summer days, combining tart lime juice with sweet frozen cherries for a bright, icy refreshment.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (300 g) frozen pitted sweet cherries
  • 34 medium fresh limes (about 1/3 cup or 80 ml lime juice) plus zest
  • 1/4 to 1/3 cup (5065 g) granulated sugar, adjust to taste
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold water
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups (150225 g) ice cubes
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) sparkling water or club soda (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, a few sprigs)

Instructions

  1. Roll the limes on the counter to loosen the juice, then cut in half and juice them using a citrus juicer to get about 1/3 cup (80 ml) of fresh lime juice. Set aside.
  2. If cherries are not pitted, remove pits from frozen cherries.
  3. Add frozen cherries, fresh lime juice, granulated sugar, cold water, and ice cubes into the blender jar.
  4. Pulse blend on medium-high speed for 1-2 minutes, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides, until the mixture is thick and icy but smooth.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness or lime juice as needed, blending briefly again if you add anything.
  6. Optionally, gently fold in sparkling water after blending to add fizz without losing bubbles.
  7. Serve immediately in tall glasses, garnished with fresh mint or a thin lime wheel if desired.

Notes

Use frozen cherries for best icy texture. Roll limes before juicing for maximum juice. Adjust sweetness after blending to avoid masking lime flavor. Pulse blend to avoid overheating and watery texture. Serve immediately for best texture. For a creamier slushie, add a splash of coconut water or Greek yogurt. If blender struggles with ice, blend cherries and lime juice first, then add ice in batches.
