Refreshing Coconut Lime Paloma Cocktail

Refreshing Coconut Lime Paloma Cocktail - featured image

A tropical twist on the classic Paloma cocktail combining creamy coconut water, zesty lime, tequila, and fizzy grapefruit soda for a refreshing summer drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz (60 ml) Tequila Blanco (100% agave)
  • 3 oz (90 ml) Coconut Water (pure, no added sugar)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Fresh Lime Juice
  • 3 oz (90 ml) Grapefruit Soda (e.g., Jarritos or Squirt)
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) Simple Syrup (optional)
  • Ice Cubes
  • Coarse Sea Salt or Smoked Salt (for rimming glass, optional)
  • Lime Wedges or Grapefruit Slices (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. If desired, rub a lime wedge around the rim of a highball or Collins glass and dip it into coarse sea salt on a small plate. Set aside.
  2. Squeeze about 1 oz (30 ml) of fresh lime juice.
  3. In a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice, combine 2 oz (60 ml) tequila blanco, 3 oz (90 ml) coconut water, fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz (15 ml) simple syrup if using.
  4. Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds until well chilled and the shaker feels cold and frosty.
  5. Fill the prepared glass with fresh ice cubes.
  6. Strain the shaken mixture into the glass over the ice.
  7. Top off with about 3 oz (90 ml) grapefruit soda and stir gently once to combine, preserving the bubbles.
  8. Garnish with a fresh lime wedge or a thin slice of grapefruit and serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Chill coconut water beforehand if it tastes plain. Avoid over-shaking to preserve soda fizz. Large clear ice cubes melt slower and keep the drink chilled without diluting quickly. Salt rim can be varied with smoked salt or chili powder for a smoky or spicy twist. The base mix (tequila, coconut water, lime juice) can be prepared ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours; add soda and ice just before serving.
