creamy italian soda recipe - featured image

A quick and easy homemade creamy Italian soda that is refreshing, bubbly, and perfect for summer. Made with simple ingredients like flavored syrup, sparkling water, and cream for a nostalgic cool treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) flavored syrup (raspberry, peach, vanilla, or your favorite)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) chilled sparkling water
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) half-and-half or whole milk (or coconut milk/almond milk for dairy-free)
  • Ice cubes (as needed)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Optional garnish: fresh mint leaves, maraschino cherry, or a slice of lemon/lime

Instructions

  1. Fill your glass with ice cubes, about 3/4 full.
  2. Pour 1/4 cup (60 ml) of flavored syrup over the ice.
  3. Slowly add 1 cup (240 ml) of chilled sparkling water, pouring gently to preserve fizz.
  4. Stir gently with a spoon or straw for about 20 seconds to mix syrup and sparkling water without losing bubbles.
  5. Slowly pour 1/4 cup (60 ml) of half-and-half or milk over the soda to create a creamy swirl.
  6. Add 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract for flavor depth (optional).
  7. Give a final gentle stir for about 10 seconds to blend cream without flattening fizz.
  8. Garnish with fresh mint, a maraschino cherry, or a wedge of lemon or lime and serve immediately.

Notes

Chill your glass beforehand to keep the soda fizzy longer. Pour sparkling water gently to preserve bubbles. Use half-and-half for a lighter creamy texture instead of heavy cream. Avoid vigorous stirring after adding cream to maintain fizz and create a beautiful swirl. For dairy-free, use coconut or almond milk. Store syrup and sparkling water separately from cream if making ahead.
