A delicate and satisfying cocktail combining the crispness of fresh cucumber with the floral sweetness of elderflower liqueur, topped with sparkling water for a light, refreshing spritz.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz London Dry Gin (e.g., Bombay Sapphire or Tanqueray)
  • 1 oz Elderflower Liqueur (e.g., St-Germain)
  • 4 thin slices Fresh Cucumber, plus extra for garnish
  • 0.5 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • 3 oz Sparkling Water or Club Soda, chilled
  • Ice Cubes, as needed
  • 34 Fresh Mint Leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Fill a highball glass with ice cubes to chill it while you mix the cocktail (about 2 minutes).
  2. In a mixing glass or shaker, add 4 thin cucumber slices and 3-4 fresh mint leaves if using. Gently muddle just enough to release fresh juices and aroma without overdoing it (about 20 seconds).
  3. Pour in 2 oz London Dry Gin, 1 oz elderflower liqueur, and 0.5 oz fresh lime juice. Stir gently to combine (10 seconds).
  4. Remove the ice cubes from the chilled highball glass to avoid watering down the cocktail.
  5. Strain the muddled mixture into the chilled glass filled with fresh ice cubes using a fine mesh or cocktail strainer to keep cucumber bits from floating freely.
  6. Top off with 3 oz chilled sparkling water or club soda. Stir gently to blend without losing bubbles (about 10 seconds).
  7. Garnish with a thin cucumber wheel or ribbon on the rim and a sprig of mint.

Notes

Muddle cucumber and mint lightly to avoid bitterness. Use fresh lime juice and chilled ingredients for best flavor. Add sparkling water last and stir gently to preserve bubbles. Large ice cubes preferred over crushed ice to prevent dilution. Prepare cucumber slices just before making the drink to keep freshness.
