A light, floral, and easy-to-make cocktail combining elderflower liqueur, gin, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and soda water for a refreshing fizz perfect for elegant sipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz (60 ml) gin (preferably London Dry like Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) elderflower liqueur (e.g., St-Germain)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) simple syrup
  • 34 oz (90120 ml) soda water
  • Ice cubes (large, clear preferred)
  • Lemon wheel or twist (for garnish)
  • Fresh mint sprig (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Chill your highball or Collins glass in the fridge or fill it with ice water to keep it cold.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz gin, 1 oz elderflower liqueur, and 1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice.
  3. Add 0.5 oz simple syrup to the shaker; adjust sweetness to taste if desired.
  4. Fill the shaker halfway with ice and secure the lid tightly.
  5. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the shaker feels cold and frosty.
  6. Discard the ice water or ice cubes from your chilled glass and fill it with fresh large ice cubes.
  7. Strain the shaken mixture into the prepared glass.
  8. Top off gently with 3-4 oz chilled soda water to maintain fizz.
  9. Garnish with a lemon wheel or twist and a sprig of fresh mint if desired.
  10. Give a gentle stir to combine flavors without losing fizz.

Notes

Use fresh lemon juice for best brightness. Large clear ice cubes melt slower and prevent dilution. Adjust simple syrup gradually to control sweetness. Pour soda water gently to keep fizz intact. If elderflower liqueur is unavailable, elderflower cordial diluted can be a substitute but with less complexity. For vegan options, check gin and simple syrup labels.
