A classic zesty cocktail combining crisp tonic water, fresh lime juice, and aromatic gin for a bright, bubbly, and perfectly balanced drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz (60 ml) gin (London Dry or botanical-forward, e.g., Bombay Sapphire)
  • 4 oz (120 ml) tonic water, chilled (premium brands like Fever-Tree or Q Tonic recommended)
  • 1 wedge or 1/2 fresh lime, freshly squeezed (about 1/2 oz or 15 ml juice)
  • Ice cubes (preferably large cubes to slow dilution)
  • Optional garnishes: lime wheel, fresh herbs like rosemary or mint

Instructions

  1. Chill your glass by placing it in the freezer or filling it with ice water for 5 minutes.
  2. Cut a fresh lime in half and use a juicer to squeeze about 1/2 oz (15 ml) of juice into the glass, avoiding seeds.
  3. Pour 2 oz (60 ml) of gin into the glass over the lime juice.
  4. Fill the glass with large ice cubes to the top.
  5. Slowly pour 4 oz (120 ml) of chilled tonic water down the side of the glass to maintain carbonation.
  6. Gently stir with a spoon or swizzle stick to combine ingredients without losing fizz.
  7. Garnish with a lime wedge or wheel and optionally add fresh herbs like rosemary or mint.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Avoid shaking to preserve tonic bubbles. Use large ice cubes to slow dilution. Pour tonic water slowly down the side of the glass to maintain fizz. Adjust lime and gin ratios to taste. Optional simple syrup can soften bitterness if desired.
