Ginger Turmeric Energy Tonic - featured image

A warm, soothing tonic combining fresh ginger, turmeric, lemon, and honey to provide a natural energy boost and support wellness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 inches fresh ginger root, peeled and sliced
  • 2 inches fresh turmeric root, peeled and sliced (or 1 tablespoon ground turmeric)
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns, lightly crushed
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons raw honey (adjust to taste)
  • Juice of 2 fresh lemons
  • 4 cups filtered water (1 liter)
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel the fresh ginger and turmeric roots carefully using a vegetable peeler or the edge of a spoon. Slice them into thin rounds.
  2. In a medium saucepan, add the sliced ginger, turmeric, black peppercorns, cinnamon stick (if using), and filtered water. Bring to a gentle boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse.
  4. Remove from heat and strain the liquid through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a heatproof bowl or pitcher, pressing gently on solids to extract liquid.
  5. While the tonic is warm but not hot, stir in fresh lemon juice and raw honey until fully dissolved.
  6. Let the tonic cool completely before transferring to a glass jar or bottle. Refrigerate and consume within 5-7 days. Shake well before serving.

Notes

Use gloves when handling turmeric to avoid staining hands. Add honey only after the tonic cools slightly to preserve enzymes. Store in glass containers to maintain freshness. Adjust sweetness and spice levels to taste. Fresh roots provide better flavor and health benefits than powders.
