A quick and easy iced espresso drink sweetened with brown sugar and mellowed with creamy oat milk, perfect for a refreshing summer pick-me-up.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots (about 60 ml / 2 fl oz) freshly brewed espresso (medium roast recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons (about 25 grams) packed brown sugar
  • ยฝ cup (120 ml) oat milk (barista-style preferred)
  • Ice cubes (enough to fill your glass)
  • ยผ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of cinnamon (optional, for garnish or stirring)

Instructions

  1. Brew 2 shots of espresso (about 60 ml / 2 fl oz) using freshly ground beans if possible.
  2. While the espresso is still hot, add 2 tablespoons (25 grams) of packed brown sugar and stir vigorously until dissolved.
  3. Add ยผ teaspoon vanilla extract if using and stir quickly.
  4. Pour the sweetened espresso into a shaker or jar. Add ยฝ cup (120 ml) oat milk and a generous handful of ice cubes.
  5. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until chilled and frothy.
  6. Fill a tall glass with fresh ice cubes and strain or pour the shaken mixture over the ice.
  7. Sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on top if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh espresso beans ground just before brewing for best flavor. Stir brown sugar into hot espresso to dissolve fully before adding ice and milk. Shake vigorously to create a frothy texture. Use clear fresh ice to avoid dilution and off-flavors. Barista-style oat milk foams better and has richer texture. Adjust sweetness to taste. Variations include adding cinnamon, nutmeg, or swapping oat milk for almond, cashew, or coconut milk. Brown sugar syrup can be made ahead by dissolving brown sugar in hot water and refrigerated for up to two weeks.
