A quick and easy lemon drop shot recipe featuring fresh lemon juice, vodka, and a sweet sugar rim, perfect for parties and gatherings with a zesty, refreshing twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) vodka per shot
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) fresh lemon juice per shot
  • 0.5 ounces (15 ml) simple syrup per shot
  • Lemon zest from one lemon
  • Granulated sugar for rimming the glasses
  • Ice cubes for shaking
  • Optional: lemon slices or twists for garnish

Instructions

  1. Chill shot glasses in the fridge or freezer for about 10 minutes.
  2. Spread a thin layer of granulated sugar on a small plate.
  3. Rub a lemon wedge around the rim of each glass to moisten it, then dip each rim into the sugar, twisting slightly to coat evenly. Set aside.
  4. Squeeze fresh lemons to get 1 ounce (30 ml) of juice per shot and strain to remove pulp or seeds.
  5. In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 ounces (60 ml) vodka, 1 ounce (30 ml) fresh lemon juice, 0.5 ounces (15 ml) simple syrup, and lemon zest from one lemon. Fill the shaker halfway with ice.
  6. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until the shaker is frosty and cold.
  7. Strain the mixture into the prepared shot glasses using a fine mesh strainer if desired.
  8. Garnish with a small lemon twist or slice on the rim.

Notes

Use freshly squeezed lemon juice and zest for best flavor. Chill glasses before serving to keep shots crisp. Adjust sweetness by varying simple syrup amount. Use superfine sugar for a finer rim texture. Shake vigorously but do not overdo to avoid dilution. Strain to remove pulp and seeds. For low-sugar version, use sugar substitutes and skip sugar rim.
