A cool, citrusy magnesium drink with fresh lemon and mint that promotes relaxation and energy. Quick and easy to prepare, perfect for any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 300 mg magnesium citrate powder (about 1 serving)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (from 1 large lemon)
  • 1 teaspoon pure maple syrup or honey
  • 56 fresh mint leaves
  • 8 ounces filtered water (still or sparkling)
  • Ice cubes (optional)
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Juice 1 large lemon to yield about 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of fresh juice. Gently rinse and pat dry 5-6 fresh mint leaves.
  2. Place mint leaves at the bottom of your glass. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, press down gently just enough to release the fragrant oilsโ€”donโ€™t pulverize them or it can get bitter. This should take about 20 seconds.
  3. Pour in the fresh lemon juice and add 1 teaspoon of pure maple syrup or honey. Stir well to combine and dissolve the sweetener fully.
  4. Add about 300 mg of magnesium citrate powder (follow package instructions for exact serving). Stir briskly until completely dissolved. The mixture should look smooth without grainy bits. This step usually takes 1-2 minutes.
  5. Pour in 8 ounces (240 ml) of your preferred waterโ€”still for a mild drink or sparkling for a lively fizz. Add ice cubes if you want it chilled.
  6. Add a tiny pinch of sea salt to enhance mineral absorption and flavor, especially if youโ€™re drinking this after exercise or a long day (optional).
  7. Give everything a final gentle stir to blend flavors. Garnish with a small sprig of mint or a thin lemon wheel if desired. Sip slowly and enjoy the calming buzz.

Notes

If magnesium powder doesnโ€™t dissolve well, pre-mix it with a tablespoon of warm water before adding other ingredients. Use fresh lemon juice for best flavor. Muddle mint gently to avoid bitterness. Adjust sweetness to taste. Drink 30 minutes before bed for relaxation or mid-afternoon for energy. Store leftovers in fridge up to 24 hours; add fresh sparkling water before serving if desired.
