A bright, fruity, and cool summer drink combining bold black tea with tropical mango puree, sweetened naturally and perfect for hot days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 black tea bags (Assam or Darjeeling recommended)
  • 2 medium ripe mangoes (fresh or frozen chunks)
  • 23 tablespoons honey or agave syrup
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 4 cups (950 ml) cold water
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: fresh mint leaves

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups (950 ml) of cold water to a rolling boil using a saucepan or kettle (about 5 minutes).
  2. Place 3-4 black tea bags into a heatproof pitcher or heat-resistant container. Pour the hot water over the tea bags and steep for 5-7 minutes. Remove tea bags and discard.
  3. Peel and chop 2 medium ripe mangoes into chunks. Place in a blender with 2-3 tablespoons honey (or sweetener of choice) and 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice. Blend until smooth and creamy, about 30 seconds. Optionally strain through a fine mesh sieve for a silky texture.
  4. Stir the mango puree into the warm brewed black tea until fully combined. Taste and adjust sweetness or lime juice if needed.
  5. Add plenty of ice cubes to the pitcher. Stir well and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill thoroughly.
  6. Serve over ice, garnished with fresh mint leaves if desired.

Notes

Do not oversteep the tea to avoid bitterness. Use ripe mangoes for best sweetness and texture. Adding a splash of cold water when blending mango helps achieve a smoother puree. Chill pitcher and glasses beforehand for extra refreshment. Add fresh mint leaves just before serving to keep them vibrant. For a fizzier drink, top with sparkling water before serving. The recipe scales easily for larger batches.
