Mango Tajín Michelada - featured image

A quick and easy tropical twist on the classic michelada featuring fresh mango puree, Tajín seasoning, and a bright lime finish. Perfect for warm weather and casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz light Mexican lager or pilsner (e.g., Modelo Especial or Pacifico)
  • ½ cup (120 ml) ripe mango puree or blended fresh mango chunks
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) fresh lime juice
  • Tajín seasoning for rimming the glass and a pinch in the drink
  • 4 oz (120 ml) tomato juice or Clamato
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • A few dashes of hot sauce (e.g., Valentina)
  • Pinch of salt inside the drink and on the rim
  • Ice cubes to fill the glass
  • Optional garnish: lime wedge or mango slice dusted with Tajín

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mango puree by peeling and dicing a ripe mango (about 1 medium fruit). Blend until smooth, about 30 seconds. Adjust consistency with a splash of water or lime juice if too thick. Set aside.
  2. Rim a pint glass by rubbing a lime wedge around the rim and dipping it into a shallow plate of Tajín seasoning. Rotate until evenly coated.
  3. In a large mixing glass or pitcher, combine 4 oz (120 ml) tomato juice or Clamato, 2 tablespoons (30 ml) fresh lime juice, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Worcestershire sauce, a pinch of salt, and a few dashes of hot sauce. Stir gently to blend flavors.
  4. Add the mango puree to the savory base and stir until fully incorporated, creating a beautiful orange-pink hue.
  5. Fill the Tajín-rimmed glass about halfway with ice cubes.
  6. Slowly pour 12 oz (355 ml) chilled light Mexican lager into the glass, allowing it to mix gently with the mango-tomato base without stirring vigorously to preserve carbonation.
  7. Garnish with a lime wedge or mango slice dusted with Tajín and serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh mango and lime juice for best flavor. Chill all ingredients and glass beforehand. Avoid stirring vigorously after adding beer to preserve carbonation. Adjust hot sauce and Tajín to taste. Mango puree can be made up to 2 days ahead and stored refrigerated. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free Mexican lager. Non-alcoholic versions can substitute beer with sparkling water or lemon-lime soda.
