A simple, bright, and elegant single-serve sangria perfect for a quiet moment or solo relaxation. This mini batch sangria balances crisp wine, brandy, and fresh fruit for a refreshing and indulgent cocktail.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 oz (120 ml) red wine (medium-bodied like Tempranillo or Garnacha)
  • 1 oz (30 ml) brandy or orange liqueur (e.g., Cointreau)
  • 34 thin slices fresh orange
  • 2 thin slices fresh lemon
  • ยผ cup (about 40 g) fresh berries (blueberries or raspberries)
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) simple syrup (optional)
  • 2 oz (60 ml) sparkling water or club soda
  • Ice cubes as needed

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice 3-4 pieces of fresh orange and 2 slices of lemon. Set aside a few berries for garnish.
  2. Pour 4 oz (120 ml) red wine into a mixing glass or small pitcher. Add 1 oz (30 ml) brandy or orange liqueur.
  3. Add the orange and lemon slices along with the handful of berries to the wine mixture. Gently stir to combine and lightly bruise the fruit to release juices and aromas.
  4. Taste and add 1 tsp (5 ml) simple syrup if a sweeter sangria is desired. Stir gently.
  5. Chill the mixture in the fridge for 5-10 minutes if time allows.
  6. Just before serving, add 2 oz (60 ml) chilled sparkling water or club soda to the mixture.
  7. Fill a wine glass with ice cubes and pour the sangria mixture over. Garnish with reserved berries or an extra slice of orange.

Notes

Use fresh, firm fruit to avoid watery sangria. Adjust sweetness with simple syrup as desired. Add sparkling water last to maintain fizz. Chill glass before serving for best experience. Muddling a couple of berries gently can intensify fruit flavor but avoid over-muddling to prevent pulpiness. For lower alcohol, reduce brandy and increase sparkling water.
