A quick and easy tropical drink combining the sweet, tangy flavor of passion fruit with the earthy notes of green tea. Perfect for hot summer days and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 teaspoons loose-leaf green tea or 2 tea bags (Sencha preferred)
  • 4 cups (1 liter) filtered water
  • 1 cup (240 ml) fresh passion fruit juice
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh lemon juice (optional)
  • 12 tablespoons (1530 ml) honey or agave syrup
  • Ice cubes as needed
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups (1 liter) of filtered water to a boil, then let it cool to about 175ยฐF (80ยฐC).
  2. Place green tea leaves or bags in a teapot or heatproof pitcher. Pour in the hot water and steep for 2 to 3 minutes until light green-gold in color.
  3. Remove tea bags or strain leaves. Pour tea into a clean pitcher and let cool to room temperature (about 15 minutes).
  4. Stir in 1 cup (240 ml) fresh passion fruit juice and 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice.
  5. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons (15-30 ml) honey or agave syrup and stir until dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste.
  6. Chill the tea in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Serve over ice cubes and garnish with fresh mint leaves.

Notes

Use water cooled to about 175ยฐF to avoid bitterness. Steep green tea for only 2-3 minutes. Fresh passion fruit juice is preferred but high-quality juice or puree works well. Adjust sweetener gradually to taste. For quick chilling, pour over ice but note it may dilute flavor slightly.
