passion fruit tea recipe - featured image

A quick and easy homemade tropical twist combining passion fruit pulp with black or green tea, sweetened and brightened with lemon juice. Perfectly refreshing and ready in 5 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup passion fruit pulp (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 black or green tea bags
  • 2 cups water (480 ml)
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons honey or agave syrup
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Ice cubes as needed
  • Mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring 2 cups (480 ml) of fresh water to a rolling boil in a teapot or saucepan (about 5 minutes).
  2. Remove from heat and add 2 tea bags. Steep for 4-5 minutes without oversteeping.
  3. Remove tea bags, gently squeezing out remaining liquid, then discard.
  4. While tea is still warm, stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons honey or agave syrup until dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste.
  5. Stir in 1/2 cup passion fruit pulp. For a smoother drink, strain through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher.
  6. Add 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice and mix well.
  7. Let tea cool to room temperature, then pour over a glass filled with ice cubes.
  8. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired and serve chilled.

Notes

If fresh passion fruit is unavailable, substitute with 1/4 cup passion fruit juice concentrate mixed with water. Use organic tea bags for best flavor. Sweeten while tea is warm for better dissolution. For a smoother texture, strain out seeds. Prepare ahead by refrigerating brewed tea mixture without ice and mint, then add before serving.
