A nostalgic and festive Shirley Temple float with a patriotic twist, combining cherry, lemon-lime soda, and creamy vanilla ice cream for a refreshing summer treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 scoops vanilla ice cream per float
  • 8 ounces lemon-lime soda (chilled) per float
  • 1 tablespoon grenadine syrup per float
  • 23 maraschino cherries per float
  • A small handful of fresh blueberries and sliced strawberries

Instructions

  1. Chill your glasses in the fridge or freezer for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Rinse fresh blueberries and hulled strawberries under cold water. Slice strawberries thinly and pat dry.
  3. Place 2 generous scoops (~1 cup / 240 ml) of vanilla ice cream into each chilled glass.
  4. Slowly pour 8 ounces (240 ml) of lemon-lime soda over the ice cream to preserve fizz.
  5. Drizzle 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of grenadine syrup over the top to create a red gradient effect.
  6. Garnish with 2-3 maraschino cherries and a handful of fresh blueberries and sliced strawberries.
  7. Serve immediately with a straw and a long spoon.

Notes

Chill glasses and soda beforehand to keep the float cold and fizzy longer. Pour soda slowly over the back of a spoon to preserve carbonation. Serve immediately to prevent ice cream melting and soda going flat. Use real pomegranate grenadine for best flavor. For vegan or dairy-free options, substitute with almond or coconut milk-based ice cream. For a boozy version, add vodka or rum.
