A delicate and elegant cocktail combining botanical gin with fresh edible rose petals, rose syrup, and lemon juice, topped with soda water for a refreshing fizz. Perfect for garden parties or a sophisticated night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces botanical gin (e.g., Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire)
  • 68 fresh edible rose petals, gently washed (pesticide-free)
  • 1/2 ounce rose syrup (store-bought or homemade)
  • 3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice (about half a lemon)
  • 2 ounces chilled soda water
  • Ice cubes to fill glass
  • Additional rose petals and a thin lemon wheel for garnish

Instructions

  1. Gently rinse 6-8 edible rose petals in cold water and pat dry with a paper towel.
  2. Place the rose petals in a cocktail shaker and gently muddle with a muddler to release fragrance without pulverizing.
  3. Add 2 ounces gin, 1/2 ounce rose syrup, and 3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice to the shaker. Add plenty of ice cubes.
  4. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the shaker feels cold.
  5. Strain the cocktail through a fine strainer into a glass filled halfway with fresh ice (if using a highball glass).
  6. Top with 2 ounces chilled soda water and stir gently once to combine.
  7. Garnish with a few rose petals floated on top and a thin lemon wheel on the rim.

Notes

Use fresh, edible, pesticide-free rose petals to avoid bitterness. Muddle gently to release fragrance without crushing petals. Adjust sweetness with rose syrup or acidity with lemon juice to taste. Prepare base mix ahead and add soda water just before serving for best fizz.
