Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry sparkling wine or prosecco
  • 1 cup (240 ml) mixed berry juice or cranberry juice
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) brandy or orange liqueur (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or simple syrup
  • 1 cup (150 g) fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup (75 g) fresh blueberries
  • 1/2 cup (75 g) fresh raspberries
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced (seeds removed)
  • Edible flowers (lavender, rose petals, pansies, or violets; pesticide-free and safe for consumption)
  • Filtered water or leftover white wine (for freezing floral ice cubes)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Floral Ice Cubes at least 4 hours ahead: Fill each compartment of your ice cube tray halfway with filtered water or white wine. Gently place a small edible flower or a few petals into each cube. Top off with more water or wine until full. Freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Wash and dry all the berries and lemon. Hull and slice the strawberries; slice the lemon thinly and remove seeds to avoid bitterness.
  3. In your pitcher, combine the sparkling wine, berry juice, and brandy or orange liqueur if using. Stir gently to blend. Add honey or simple syrup little by little, tasting as you go, aiming for a balanced sweetness.
  4. Toss in the sliced strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and lemon slices. Give the mixture a gentle stir to distribute the fruit evenly.
  5. Add the floral ice cubes just before serving to keep the sangria cold and visually stunning. The ice cubes will slowly melt, releasing delicate floral notes into the drink.

Notes

Use dry or brut sparkling wine for best results to avoid overly sweet sangria. Rinse edible flowers gently and pat dry to prevent cloudy ice cubes. Adjust sweetness gradually with honey or syrup. Remove lemon seeds to avoid bitterness. Add floral ice cubes just before serving to keep bubbles lively. For alcohol-free version, replace sparkling wine and brandy with sparkling water and white grape juice.
