A light, festive, and easy-to-make sparkling sangria featuring fresh berries, citrus, brandy, and dry sparkling wine, perfect for summer parties and casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 750 ml (25 fl oz) dry sparkling wine (Brut or Extra Brut, Prosecco or Cava recommended)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) brandy (E&J or Courvoisier recommended)
  • 2 cups (300 g) mixed fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 1 large orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium lemon, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) simple syrup (homemade or store-bought, adjust to taste)
  • A handful of fresh mint leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and prep the fruit: rinse berries gently under cold water and pat dry. Hull and slice strawberries into halves or quarters. Thinly slice orange and lemon into rounds or half-moons about 1/8 inch (3 mm) thick. This takes about 10 minutes.
  2. Add the prepared berries and citrus slices to a large pitcher or punch bowl. Toss in fresh mint leaves if using.
  3. Pour 1/4 cup (60 ml) brandy and 1/4 cup (60 ml) simple syrup over the fruit. Stir gently to mix. Let sit for 10 to 15 minutes to allow flavors to mingle.
  4. Slowly pour in the 750 ml (25 fl oz) chilled sparkling wine. Stir gently just to combine, preserving the fizz.
  5. Chill the sangria covered in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours for best flavor. Serve immediately over ice, ladling into glasses with plenty of berries and citrus.

Notes

Use fresh berries for best texture; thaw and drain frozen berries if needed. Slice citrus thinly to avoid bitterness. Stir gently after adding sparkling wine to preserve bubbles. Prepare fruit, brandy, and syrup mixture 1-2 hours before adding sparkling wine for best flavor. Store leftovers covered in refrigerator and consume within 24 hours. Add sparkling water or extra sparkling wine to revive fizz if needed.
