Refreshing Star Spangled Sangria - featured image

A light, festive sangria bursting with fresh red and blue berries, crisp white wine, and a splash of sparkling water, perfect for summer parties and warm evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 750 ml (25 oz) dry white wine (Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio)
  • 1 cup (150 g) fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup (150 g) fresh blueberries
  • ยฝ cup (75 g) fresh raspberries
  • 1 medium orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium lemon, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium lime, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sparkling water (plain or lightly flavored)
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) simple syrup (optional)
  • Ice cubes for serving

Instructions

  1. Rinse the strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries thoroughly. Hull and slice the strawberries into thin pieces. Slice the orange, lemon, and lime into thin rounds. This takes about 10 minutes.
  2. Pour the entire 750 ml (25 oz) bottle of white wine into a large pitcher.
  3. Add the sliced strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, orange, lemon, and lime to the wine. Stir gently to combine.
  4. If desired, pour in 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of simple syrup and stir well. Adjust sweetness to taste or skip this step.
  5. Cover the pitcher with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, ideally 4-6 hours, to let the fruit infuse the wine with fresh flavors. Do not exceed 24 hours.
  6. Just before serving, add 1 cup (240 ml) of sparkling water to the sangria for a refreshing fizz. Stir gently to combine.
  7. Add ice cubes to the pitcher or directly into glasses.
  8. Pour the sangria into glasses, ensuring each glass gets some fruit. Garnish with fresh berries or a citrus slice if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

Use a crisp, dry white wine like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio for best results. Add sparkling water just before serving to keep fizz. Do not muddle fruit to avoid cloudiness. Can substitute frozen berries (thawed) or use lemon-lime soda for more sweetness and fizz. Non-alcoholic version possible with sparkling white grape juice.
