Refreshing Strawberry Agua Fresca

strawberry agua fresca - featured image

A light, refreshing summer drink made with fresh strawberries, lime juice, and a touch of natural cane sugar. Perfect for cooling off on hot days and easy to prepare in under 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • Juice of 1 large lime (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 4 cups cold filtered water (950 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons natural cane sugar
  • Ice cubes (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Wash and hull about 2 cups (about 300 grams) of fresh strawberries. Slice them into halves or quarters.
  2. Place the sliced strawberries into a blender. Add 4 cups (950 ml) of cold filtered water, the juice of 1 large lime (about 2 tablespoons or 30 ml), and 2 tablespoons (25 grams) of natural cane sugar.
  3. Blend on high for about 30 seconds until mostly smooth but still with some texture. For a seedless drink, blend longer or strain.
  4. Optionally, pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing gently to extract juice and leave seeds behind.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness or acidity by adding more sugar (1 teaspoon at a time) or lime juice as needed. Stir well.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill and let flavors meld. Alternatively, add ice cubes to serve immediately.
  7. Serve in tall glasses, garnished with fresh mint leaves and whole strawberries if desired.

Notes

Use ripe, fragrant strawberries for best flavor. Frozen strawberries can be used if thawed first. Adjust sugar to taste or substitute with honey, agave, stevia, or monk fruit sweetener for sugar-free versions. Stir before serving if stored. Add sparkling water for a fizzy twist.
