A vibrant and soothing iced tea blending fresh strawberries, basil, and mint for a perfect summer refreshment. Easy to make and ideal for hot days or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (1 liter) filtered water
  • 3 black tea bags (e.g., Twinings English Breakfast)
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1012 large fresh basil leaves
  • 810 fresh mint leaves
  • 23 tablespoons honey or agave syrup
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • Ice cubes as needed

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups (1 liter) of filtered water to a rolling boil (about 5-7 minutes).
  2. Pour the hot water over 3 black tea bags in a heatproof pitcher and steep for 5-7 minutes. Remove tea bags and gently squeeze to extract flavor.
  3. While tea is warm, add fresh basil leaves, mint leaves, and sliced strawberries to the pitcher. Gently muddle with a muddler or wooden spoon for 1-2 minutes to release oils and juices.
  4. Stir in 2-3 tablespoons honey or agave syrup while tea is still warm to dissolve evenly. Adjust sweetness to taste.
  5. Add 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice and stir to balance sweetness.
  6. Let the tea cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours to chill and meld flavors.
  7. Serve over ice cubes, garnished with a sprig of mint or a fresh strawberry if desired.

Notes

Use ripe, fragrant strawberries and fresh herbs for best flavor. Be gentle when muddling herbs to avoid bitterness. For less caffeine, substitute black tea with green tea or caffeine-free herbal teas like rooibos or hibiscus. Freeze some tea into ice cubes to prevent dilution. Adjust sweetness with honey, agave, maple syrup, or coconut sugar as preferred.
