A hydrating and refreshing summer drink combining watermelon, strawberries, lemon, and a pinch of salt to replenish electrolytes naturally. Perfect for hot days, post-workout, or anytime you need a cooling boost.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups diced seedless watermelon
  • 2 cups hulled and halved strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (about 1 lemon)
  • 1/4 teaspoon natural sea salt (fine sea salt or Himalayan pink salt recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup (optional)
  • 1 cup cold water or coconut water (240 ml)
  • Ice cubes as needed for serving
  • Splash of sparkling water (optional, for fizz)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional, for dairy-free hydrating twist)

Instructions

  1. Rinse strawberries and hull them. Cut watermelon into chunks, removing seeds if necessary (about 5 minutes).
  2. Add watermelon and strawberries to a high-speed blender. Pour in fresh lemon juice and cold water or coconut water.
  3. Blend on high for about 1 minute until smooth and vibrant pink.
  4. Taste the mixture. If too thick, add a splash more water. If not sweet enough, blend in honey or agave syrup gradually (2-3 minutes).
  5. Stir in 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt to enhance electrolyte balance.
  6. Optional: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a serving pitcher for a smoother drink, pressing pulp gently to extract liquid.
  7. Chill the pitcher in the fridge for about 30 minutes or serve immediately with ice cubes.
  8. Optional: Just before serving, add a splash of sparkling water for a lively fizz.

Notes

Use cold ingredients for best refreshment. Adjust sweetness based on fruit ripeness. Adding salt is key for electrolyte balance. For a fizz, add sparkling water just before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge up to 48 hours and stir before serving. Avoid freezing to maintain texture.
