A simple, light, and refreshing virgin mojito made with fresh mint, lime juice, and sparkling water, perfect for cooling off on warm summer days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1012 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sparkling water
  • 12 teaspoons simple syrup (optional)
  • Ice cubes
  • Lime wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse 10-12 fresh mint leaves under cold water and pat dry. Cut a lime in half and juice it to get approximately 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of fresh lime juice. Set aside a few lime wedges for garnish.
  2. Place the mint leaves at the bottom of your glass. Add 1-2 teaspoons (5-10 ml) of simple syrup if using. Using a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon, gently press the leaves just enough to release their essential oils without shredding them completely.
  3. Pour the fresh lime juice over the muddled mint and syrup mixture. Stir quickly to blend flavors.
  4. Fill the glass about halfway to two-thirds full with ice cubes.
  5. Slowly add 1 cup (240 ml) of chilled sparkling water to the glass, pouring gently to preserve the bubbles.
  6. Use a spoon or stirrer to mix the ingredients lightly, combining flavors without losing the fizz.
  7. Garnish with a lime wedge and a sprig of fresh mint. Optionally, slap the mint sprig between your hands before garnishing to release more aroma.

Notes

Be gentle when muddling mint leaves to avoid bitterness. Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Keep sparkling water cold to maintain fizz. Adjust sweetness with simple syrup or substitute honey or agave nectar. Prepare mint and lime juice mixture up to 4 hours ahead and add sparkling water and ice just before serving.
