Refreshing Watermelon Mint Agua Fresca

Watermelon Mint Agua Fresca - featured image

A bright, crisp, and refreshing summer drink made with watermelon, fresh mint, water, and lime juice. Perfect for cooling down on hot days with natural sweetness and a hint of minty zing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cubed seedless watermelon (about 1 medium watermelon)
  • 1012 fresh mint leaves, washed
  • 2 cups cold water
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 12 teaspoons honey or agave syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the watermelon into chunks, removing seeds if necessary, to get about 4 cups (about 600 grams) of cubed fruit.
  2. In a blender, combine watermelon chunks, fresh mint leaves, cold water, and lime juice. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth.
  3. Optional: Pour the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher to remove pulp and seeds, pressing with a spoon to extract liquid.
  4. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding 1-2 teaspoons honey or agave syrup if needed. Adjust lime juice to preference.
  5. Serve immediately over ice or refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour for a colder drink. Stir before serving and garnish with a sprig of mint if desired.

Notes

Use ripe watermelon for best sweetness. Gently bruise mint leaves before blending to release oils without bitterness. Straining is optional for smoother texture. For a fizzy twist, substitute cold water with sparkling water. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and stir before serving.
