A warm, comforting tea made with dried red dates, goji berries, ginger, and cinnamon, perfect for cozy moments and healthful sipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1012 dried red dates (jujubes), plump and slightly soft
  • 1/4 cup (35g) goji berries
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, sliced thinly (optional but recommended)
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 6 cups (1.4 liters) filtered water
  • Rock sugar or honey, to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the dried red dates and goji berries under cold running water for about 30 seconds to remove dust or residues.
  2. Slice a 1-inch piece of fresh ginger into thin rounds.
  3. Pour 6 cups (1.4 liters) of filtered water into a medium to large pot.
  4. Add the rinsed red dates, goji berries, sliced ginger, and cinnamon stick to the pot.
  5. Bring the water to a rolling boil over medium-high heat, about 5โ€“7 minutes.
  6. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 20โ€“25 minutes until the water turns a rich reddish-brown color.
  7. Turn off the heat and add rock sugar or honey to taste, stirring gently until dissolved.
  8. Strain the tea using a fine mesh strainer or slotted spoon to remove solids.
  9. Serve warm, optionally garnished with fresh goji berries or a thin slice of ginger.

Notes

Simmer gently to avoid bitterness. Sweeten after simmering to preserve flavor. For stronger flavor, simmer up to 30 minutes but avoid overdoing it. Ginger can be tied in cheesecloth for easy removal. Store cooled tea in airtight container in refrigerator up to 3 days. Reheat gently without boiling.
