A bright, refreshing sparkling sangria combining tart pomegranate juice, mixed berries, and crisp sparkling wine, perfect for summer parties and casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) sparkling wine (Prosecco or dry Cava recommended)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) unsweetened pomegranate juice
  • 1 ยฝ cups (225 g) mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, blackberries), fresh or frozen
  • 1 medium fresh orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 small lemon, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) simple syrup (or honey/agave syrup to taste)
  • A handful of fresh mint leaves, for garnish
  • Ice cubes, as needed

Instructions

  1. Rinse mixed berries under cold water if fresh, then pat dry. Thinly slice the orange and lemon, removing any seeds. This takes about 5 minutes.
  2. In a large pitcher, pour 1 cup (240 ml) of pomegranate juice and add 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of simple syrup. Stir gently to mix evenly.
  3. Add the berries, orange, and lemon slices to the pitcher. Stir gently for about 30 seconds to combine flavors without bruising the fruit.
  4. Slowly pour the entire bottle (750 ml) of chilled sparkling wine into the pitcher. Stir lightly once more to blend while preserving bubbles.
  5. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let flavors marry; 1-2 hours is ideal.
  6. Just before serving, add ice cubes to the pitcher or individual glasses. Garnish each glass with a sprig of fresh mint.

Notes

Use dry or brut sparkling wine to balance sweetness. Stir gently to avoid breaking berries and clouding the sangria. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving. Add ice only just before serving to prevent dilution. Adjust sweetness with simple syrup, honey, or agave syrup to taste. For a non-alcoholic version, substitute sparkling wine with sparkling water or lemon-lime soda.
