  • 2 cups (475 ml) club soda or sparkling water, plain or lime-flavored
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) simple syrup, homemade or store-bought
  • A few drops green food coloring (optional)
  • About 1 pound (450 g) dry ice, for bubbling fog
  • 1 large green apple, thinly sliced for garnish
  • Optional add-ins: splash of ginger ale or a cinnamon stick

Instructions

  1. Prepare the simple syrup (if making homemade): Combine equal parts sugar and water (1/2 cup / 120 ml each) in a small saucepan. Heat gently, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Cool completely before using (about 10 minutes).
  2. In a large pitcher, combine 4 cups (950 ml) green apple juice, 1/4 cup (60 ml) lime juice, and 1/4 cup (60 ml) simple syrup. Stir gently to blend flavors.
  3. Add a few drops of green food coloring if desired and stir until color is even.
  4. Place the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to chill.
  5. Just before serving, pour the chilled punch base into a clear punch bowl. Slowly add 2 cups (475 ml) club soda or sparkling water to add fizz and lighten the flavor.
  6. Float thin slices of green apple on top. Optionally add a cinnamon stick or fresh mint leaves for aroma.
  7. Using tongs or gloves, carefully place small chunks of dry ice (about 1/4 pound / 115 g at a time) into the punch bowl. The dry ice will bubble and create a magical fog effect. Never ingest dry ice pieces.
  8. Serve immediately by ladling punch into cups, ensuring no dry ice pieces enter the glass. The fog will last 15-20 minutes.

Handle dry ice with gloves or tongs; never ingest dry ice pieces. Add dry ice just before serving for best fog effect. Keep punch chilled to maintain fizz and fog. Adjust sweetness by varying simple syrup. For a non-carbonated version, substitute club soda with chilled green tea or apple cider. For an adult version, add apple-flavored vodka or spiced rum after adding dry ice.
