strawberry basil mimosa - featured image

A refreshing twist on the classic mimosa, combining the sweetness of ripe strawberries, the aromatic hint of basil, and the effervescent sparkle of champagne for the ultimate celebratory drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (150g) fresh strawberries, washed, hulled, and halved
  • A handful of fresh basil leaves, washed and patted dry
  • 2 cups (500ml) orange juice, freshly squeezed or store-bought
  • Champagne (brut or demi-sec)
  • Ice (optional)
  • Honey or simple syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash, hull, and halve the strawberries.
  2. Add the strawberries and a handful of fresh basil leaves to a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. Add a splash of water or orange juice if the mixture is too thick.
  3. Strain the puree using a fine mesh strainer to remove seeds or large bits of basil.
  4. In a pitcher or large bowl, combine the strained strawberry-basil puree with 2 cups (500ml) of orange juice. Stir gently to mix.
  5. Pour the orange juice mixture into each champagne flute, filling about halfway. Top up with chilled champagne to fill the glass. Gently stir to combine.
  6. Garnish with a small basil leaf and a slice of fresh strawberry on the rim of each glass.
  7. Serve immediately while bubbly and cold.

Notes

[‘Use chilled ingredients to keep the drink refreshing.’, ‘Start with a small amount of basil and adjust to taste.’, ‘Choose brut champagne for a less sweet drink or demi-sec for a sweeter option.’, ‘Add honey or simple syrup if strawberries are not sweet enough.’, ‘Experiment with presentation by using fancy champagne flutes or sugared rims.’]
