A spicy twist on the classic Bloody Mary cocktail, this recipe creatively uses Thanksgiving leftovers like turkey drippings and cranberry sauce for a bold and festive drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (475 ml) tomato juice
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) turkey drippings
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) cranberry sauce
  • 5 ounces (150 ml) vodka
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Ice cubes
  • Celery sticks (for garnish)
  • Olives (for garnish)
  • Leftover turkey strips (for garnish)
  • Fresh parsley or thyme (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine 2 cups (475 ml) of tomato juice, 2 tablespoons (30 ml) turkey drippings, and 1 tablespoon (15 ml) cranberry sauce. Blend until smooth.
  2. Pour the blended mixture into a cocktail shaker. Add 5 ounces (150 ml) of vodka, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) horseradish, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) hot sauce, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Worcestershire sauce, and the juice of half a lemon. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds until well mixed and chilled.
  4. Prepare your glasses by rimming them with salt or a mix of salt and paprika for an extra kick. Wet the rim with a lemon wedge and dip into the salt mixture.
  5. Fill the glasses with ice cubes, then strain the Bloody Mary mixture evenly into the glasses.
  6. Garnish your drink with a celery stick, a skewer of olives, and a few strips of leftover turkey. Add fresh parsley or thyme for a festive touch.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy the spicy, savory goodness!

Notes

[‘If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of water or more tomato juice to thin it out.’, ‘Adjust the spice level by adding or reducing hot sauce and horseradish.’, ‘Chill your glasses in the freezer before serving for a refreshing experience.’, ‘You can prepare the base mix in advance and store it in the fridge for up to two days.’]
