Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 frozen ripe banana
  • 1 cup (150 g) peeled dragon fruit, fresh or frozen, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon spirulina powder
  • 1 1/2 cups (360 g) Greek yogurt, plain or vanilla (or dairy-free yogurt)
  • 1 1/2 cups (360 ml) unsweetened almond milk or preferred milk
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • Honey or maple syrup (optional, to taste)
  • Chia seeds (optional, for texture and nutrition)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the green spirulina layer: In a blender, combine 1 frozen banana, 1/2 cup (120 ml) unsweetened almond milk, 1 teaspoon spirulina powder, and 1/2 cup (120 g) Greek yogurt. Blend until smooth, about 45 seconds. Add more almond milk if too thick. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the pink dragon fruit layer: Rinse the blender. Blend 1 cup (150 g) peeled dragon fruit, 1/2 frozen banana, 1/2 cup (120 g) Greek yogurt, 1 tablespoon lime juice, and 1/2 cup (120 ml) almond milk until silky smooth, about 40 seconds. Add a teaspoon of honey if desired.
  3. Prepare the neutral creamy base: Blend 1 frozen banana with 1/2 cup (120 g) Greek yogurt and 1/2 cup (120 ml) almond milk for 30 seconds.
  4. Layer the smoothie: Using a spoon or small ladle, carefully pour the green spirulina smoothie into a glass filling about one-third of the way. Tap gently to settle.
  5. Add the creamy banana layer: Slowly pour or spoon this mixture over the back of a spoon onto the green layer to create a distinct middle band.
  6. Add the dragon fruit layer: Gently pour the pink layer on top using the back of a spoon to keep layers separate.
  7. Optional toppings: Sprinkle with chia seeds, edible glitter, or fresh dragon fruit cubes.

Notes

Chill each blended layer before pouring to help maintain distinct layers. Use the back of a spoon to pour layers gently and prevent mixing. Adjust spirulina quantity to avoid bitterness. Fresh dragon fruit gives silkier texture; frozen fruit makes creamier smoothie. Can substitute dairy yogurt with coconut or almond yogurt for dairy-free version.
