Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 packets (21 grams) unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 cup (200 grams) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup cranberry juice (red layer)
  • 1 cup pineapple juice (yellow layer)
  • 1 cup lime juice (green layer)
  • 1.5 cups (360 ml) vodka or light rum
  • 1.5 cups (360 ml) water
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) lemon juice
  • Optional: food coloring to intensify colors

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, pour 1.5 cups (360 ml) of water and sprinkle all 3 packets (21 grams) of unflavored gelatin evenly over the surface. Let it bloom for 5 minutes until the gelatin absorbs the water and swells.
  2. Gently warm the saucepan over low heat, stirring until the gelatin fully dissolves (about 3-4 minutes). Avoid boiling.
  3. Add 1 cup (200 grams) of sugar to the dissolved gelatin and stir until fully dissolved. Stir in 2 tablespoons (30 ml) lemon juice.
  4. Pour the gelatin mixture evenly into three separate bowls (about 1 cup / 240 ml each).
  5. To each bowl, add 1 cup (240 ml) of your chosen fruit juice and ยฝ cup (120 ml) vodka or light rum. Stir gently to combine. Add food coloring if needed.
  6. Carefully spoon or ladle the first mixture (e.g., cranberry) into shot cups, filling each about one-third full. Refrigerate for 20โ€“30 minutes until firm to the touch but not fully set.
  7. Gently pour the second mixture (e.g., pineapple) over the back of a spoon held just above the first layer to avoid splashes. Refrigerate another 20โ€“30 minutes until slightly firm.
  8. Pour the final mixture (e.g., lime) the same way and refrigerate for at least 1 hour until fully set.
  9. Keep the jello shots chilled until just before serving.

Notes

Bloom gelatin properly before heating to avoid lumps. Avoid boiling gelatin to ensure it sets correctly. Chill each layer until firm but slightly tacky before adding the next to prevent mixing. Pour layers slowly over the back of a spoon for neat layers. Use clear containers to showcase vibrant colors. Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 3 days. Avoid freezing as it affects texture. For non-alcoholic versions, replace vodka with extra juice or sparkling water.
