virgin margarita recipe - featured image

A quick and easy non-alcoholic margarita featuring fresh lime juice, agave syrup, and sparkling water for a refreshing, tangy, and sweet lime cocktail.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium-sized fresh limes, juiced (about 6 tablespoons or 90 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) agave syrup (100% pure blue agave preferred)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) chilled sparkling water
  • Ice cubes, plenty
  • Coarse sea salt for rimming glasses (optional)
  • Lime wedges or slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glass rim (optional): Pour coarse sea salt onto a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass to moisten it, then dip the edge into the salt. Set aside to dry.
  2. Juice the limes using a citrus juicer or reamer until you have approximately 6 tablespoons (90 ml) of juice. Strain if desired to remove pulp.
  3. In a mixing glass or shaker, combine the fresh lime juice with 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of agave syrup. Stir or shake until the syrup is fully dissolved (about 30 seconds).
  4. Add 1 cup (240 ml) of chilled sparkling water to the mixture. Stir gently to combine, preserving the bubbles.
  5. Fill the prepared glass with ice cubes. Pour the lime mixture over the ice. Garnish with a lime wedge or slice on the rim.

Notes

Use fresh limes for best flavor; bottled lime juice is less vibrant. Rim glasses with coarse sea salt for classic taste. Stir gently after adding sparkling water to keep bubbles. Adjust sweetness with agave syrup to taste. Can prepare lime juice and syrup mix up to 2 days ahead; add sparkling water and ice just before serving. For a frozen version, blend lime juice, agave syrup, and ice until slushy.
